1 Peter 1:13-25
This week we conclude our study of holiness with a look at that last part of our definition. Holiness is to be set apart for a purpose by God. Humanity likes the idea of being set apart and unique and of having a purpose or a "why" for our lives. But we do not like the idea of being given these things by God. Read the temptation of Eve in Genesis 3:5 - what lie did we start believing then that would make us resist God setting us apart for a purpose now? This week we will be talking about how holiness requires a new way of thinking that centers around God rather than ourselves. We will be working through 1 Peter 1:13-25 to learn new ways to think that would help us with this. Read the text and consider the ways Peter is asking you to think about things that might be different than you're used to.
